Black women, regardless of education or wealth, have always been more likely than White women to die due to pregnancy related complications.  Abortion restrictions, which have also decreased the availability of maternal care, have led to even higher Black maternal mortality rates. 

In this paper, which was written for the course African American Deathways at Marian University, I explored how reducing access to safe abortions has the potential to increase Black maternal mortality.
